Ash
ASH: The All-Seeing
Ash was born on the island of Kaua'i, Hawai'i. He is Polaris's youngest son. Even as a very young child, Ash was extremely intuitive and sensitive. At times, he seemed to be very aware of the moods and thoughts of the people around him, often echoing those emotions through his own behavior. Around this time, Ash began to have a series of remarkable visions, mostly about past events and personalities. Many were expressed in drawings or enacted during ordinary play. As he aged, Ash would frequently tell his father that he could "travel through time in my head," and would be able to see and even interact with people far removed in time and space. At around age seven Ash began to speak about and draw the details from the life of a sailor who served aboard and ultimately died in the USS Arizona, in Pearl Harbor, O'ahu. The need for the child to understand what he intuitively knew ultimately became the foundation for Outcast Earth. Over the five years he was attached to OCE, Ash's intutitive abilities proved very reliable.

Echo
ECHO: The Empath
Currently the youngest member of the Outcast Earth team and the third to join as a minor – the first being Polaris's sons Ash and Coyote. Echo has spent most of her young life traveling all over the country with her mother, Mist, who performed as a fortune-teller and magician at Renaissance Faires and carnivals. This vagabond lifestyle has made mother and daughter ideally suited to the nature of the Outcast Earth project. Despite this, Echo was a little reluctant about giving up the Renaissance Festival circuit to go chasing ghosts and monsters. "She really likes what we've been doing the past few years," said Mist. "Working the faires has been like playing dress-up all the time and getting paid for it. What kid wouldn't like that?" Echo also admits that some of the things that the team investigates are frightening to her. "I don't want to see a ghost," she said. "That's way too scary!" So how will she handle the spookier elements of the team's work? "I'm gonna wait in the car," she stated. When not performing with her mother as a fortune-teller, Echo occupies herself with a variety of creative hobbies, including designing jewelry and cooking.

Epoch
EPOCH: The True Believer
The name may be new, but the face is probably familiar to visitors to the Outcast Earth website. Yes, Epoch is our old friend Jeremy Riposte. A longtime resident of Kaua'i, Hawai'i, and personal friend of Polaris, Riposte was one of the candidates originally considered for inclusion on the Outcast Earth team when it was first forming in 2003. "I wasn't allowed to join the team in '03 because my application was rejected by several of the other members," Epoch confessed. "They said I was difficult to get along with. They were right. I am difficult." Regardless of past personality issues, Epoch was voted onto the team in August 2010 partly in recognition of his encyclopedic knowledge of the myths and legends. Epoch was also responsible for introducing the team to Mythos, the step-sister of OCE member Trespass whom everyone thought had died years earlier. Despite his initial rejection from Outcast Earth, Epoch has been very active in the area of paranormal investigations, primarily through his own (now defunct) tour company called "Ancient Footprints." Jeremy states that his other interests include archery, women and World of Warcraft.

MERIDIAN
MERIDIAN: The Skeptic

Meridian came to the Outcast Earth project via an emergency room visit. As strange as that sounds, she says it's accurate. She had worked as a private security guard in Portland, Oregon. On the evening of December 20th, 2002, Meridian parked her security car outside an empty warehouse where she had spotted a strange light dancing in some of the windows. When Meridian entered the building, she was puzzled to find it cold, quiet and seemingly empty. She doesn't remember the attack that followed but sustained multiple stab wounds by an unknown assailant. "After this, I knew I needed a change," she said. "I needed to understand... and that's how I landed in OCE." Meridian has distinguished herself as the team's intellectual and skeptic. Meridian played a central role in Cipher's "curse theory" after she received an ominous fortune which seemed to foretell her doom. The terrible prophecy didn't come to pass, but with the help of Mist she was able to get some answers about the mysterious 2002 attack. It was revealed that the perpetrator was actually an ancient demon called a Rakshasa.

Mist
MIST: The Trickster
One of the newest Outcast Earth team members, Mist officially joined the team in May 2009 after spending several years as a traveling performer with her daughter, Echo. A skilled magician and fortune-teller, the mother-daughter team had spent most of the last decade performing at Renaissance Faires and carnivals. In fact, Mist was a key figure in solving what had come to be known as the "Outcast Earth curse" when she gave Meridian a Tarot card reading. "I saw a malevolent force that had been stalking Meridian for years and had already contributed to several deaths and the departure of several other [Outcast Earth] team members!" Mist's persistence with the team ultimately led to the destruction of the entity – known as a Rakshasa – that had been stalking Meridian for years. But Mist's talents aren't confined just to fortune-telling. Polaris said: "I think she could walk into almost any situation, assume any persona and convince everyone in the room of her authenticity." Mist confesses that this skill has a dark history. "When I married Echo's father, I was sucked into that whole ugly world and paid a high price for it, including a lot of time behind bars. I hope that my work now will let me get passed that horrible time."

Mythos
MYTHOS: The Novice
Mythos (whose real name is Meryl Holt-Chambers) jokes that she's the "only Outcast Earth member to legitimately go the 'The Other Side' and come back!" Indeed, her journey onto the OCE team is a long and strange one... which includes rumors of her untimely death. A native of Louisiana, Mythos is the step-sister of OCE member Trespass. According to an elaborate (and mostly fictional) story told by Trespass for years, Meryl accidentally drowned in the swamp outside of their hometown in 2003. In July 2010, however, Mythos was found to be very much alive when she contacted team member Epoch in a search for Trespass. She told us: "One of the reasons I chose the name 'Mythos' as my OCE name is that I felt like I had been a myth among the other members for so many years. Thanks to Trespass's lies, I was dead and haunting everyone. I suppose I could choose to be mad about that, but instead I decided to have fun with it!" Mythos has lived primarily in the southern and southeastern parts of the United States and has worked as a waitress, a telemarketer and a veterinarian technician. Although she confesses that she has no specific skills relating to the paranormal, she is an expert organizer and a whiz with finances.

Polaris
POLARIS: The Leader
Originally from Arizona, Polaris moved with his parents to Kaua'i in 1984, just prior to graduating from high school. The transition was one of both need and opportunity, as Polaris's aging grandfather found himself unable to handle the family business, a movie theater located in Lihue. Once they were able to walk, Polaris's sons, Coyote and Ash, were regular fixtures in the theater as well. During an Indiana Jones movie festival, Polaris remembers sitting in the back of the theater with Coyote and Ash and watching them enjoy the movies with their mouths hanging open. Afterward, Ash turned to me and said, 'Dad, one day I am going to go there do all these things. I am going to go and find the magic.' I guess that's the point where the handwriting was really on the wall." Since OCE has gained momentum, Polaris has come to some interesting conclusions about the experiment. "I thought we'd be able to find plenty of justification for what we do, but really we've received a lot of criticism," he said. "Some of that's come from friends and family who think I'm crazy for dragging my son all over the world looking for ghosts and monsters. Others are impressed with our dedication... but I don't think we've changed anyone's minds yet."

Rune
RUNE: The Visionary
Rune was the fourth child of six and describes herself as the "unwilling participant in the world's most military of military families." As such, Rune had to get used to traveling all over the world and never staying very long in any one location. Among the areas where she and her family were stationed was Alaska, Turkey and Panama. During her travels, Rune encountered many strange things including seeing the ghost of her own father in 1987. "That was so profound for me and also provided me with such great comfort during a period of great suffering. After that, I so wanted to learn more about how things worked in the universe. It's been an insatiable drive for me ever since." Rune's enthusiasm for OCE's work is apparent and infectious. Early on in the program, Rune proclaimed herself the official OCE "morale officer," often creating fun and team-building distractions for the other team members. Rune was also the first member to fall in love while on assignment. The object of her affection was a woman named Tate who later was killed in an automobile accident. This tragic loss only encouraged Rune's efforts to understand the paranormal.

PAST OUTCAST EARTH MEMBERS:
Anvil | Cipher | Coyote | Trespass | CURRENT OUTCAST EARTH MEMBERS

Anvil
ANVIL: The Lost One

One of the original Outcast Earth team members, Anvil was born and raised in New Hampshire but moved to Los Angeles, California shortly after his 18th birthday. His decision to move cross-country at such a young age was motivated partly by his need to escape the everyday trials of family life, and partly from young ambition. His first career goal was to customize cars and trucks and eventually own his own business. But failing fortunes caused him to develop a recurring problem with alcohol. He met Rune through a mtual acquaintance and shortly thereafter joined OCE. Anvil participated with the OCE team for exactly two years. Then on February 26, 2007, he mysteriously disappeared. He was never heard from again, but in November 2008 a series of prophetic dreams reported by Ash led the team to southeastern Colorado where Anvil's skeletal remains were discovered in an abandoned gas station. Police investigators – and the OCE team – are still unable to explain why Anvil would have traveled to such a strange and remote destination and ultimately how he died. Cipher
CIPHER: The Detective
Cipher was born In Chicago, Illinois, and has the distinction of being Polaris's first-cousin-once-removed. He joined Outcast Earth in August 2006, taking over the spot vacated by Coyote, Polaris's oldest son who left the team in 2005. "We always knew that [Cipher] was visiting the website and keeping track of what we were doing," said Polaris, "but I also knew that my cousin [Cipher's father] thought we were a bunch of dumbasses... we never thought he'd be allowed to join us." Despite his family's feelings about the OCE project, Cipher asked to join shortly after turning eighteen. Unfortunately, Cipher's early experiences with the team were not good ones... including a serious injury he sustained on the island of Saipan while investigating a haunted cave once occupied by Japanese soldiers. Cipher was the leading proponent for what became known as the "Outcast Earth curse theory" and ultimately left the team because of his fear that the group was destined for tragedy. Coyote
COYOTE: The Curious One

Polaris's oldest son and one of the first members of the OCE team. Coyote was witness to many of the strange occurances and visions experienced by his younger brother, Ash. Together, the young boys began their own investigations in the paranormal with some startling results. Coyote participated with the team on its early organized expeditions to Tahiti and the Marshall Islands. Eventually, however, he became homesick for Hawaii and asked to return. Coyote left the team in June 2005 and returned Kaua'i where he currently works as an auto mechanic. Coyote has occassionally rejoined the team for investigations, most notably in the Redwood Forest in California and of the Ruby ghost town in Arizona.

Trespass
TRESPASS: The Rebel

Meridian once described Trespass as the "first and most important mystery [OCE] should investigate." Unlike the other OCE members, Trespass contacted Polaris from his native Louisiana and literally begged to be a part of the team. "I cold-called [Polaris]," Trespass remembered. After several months of phone calls, suddenly everything stopped and Polaris felt certain that Trespass had finally lost interest… until he appeared in Kaua'i. Trespass, with Rune in tow, returned to Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina in order to find his mother. Unfortunately, the investigation yielded nothing but more questions. Then in April 2008, Trespass's stepfather was found alive and living under an assumed name in Florida. He ultiimately confessed to killing Trespass's mother. Following this discovery, Trespass decided to leave the OCE team and stay on in Louisiana to resolve this personal mystery. Contact with Trespass was lost until he and the team were briefly reunited in March 2011.
