The puzzle of the pale-skinned Polynesians arose again with the mysterious appearance of Tahiki on Iwo Jima Island. The Chilean government renamed this remote and precipitious island four-hundred miles from the mainland “Robinson Crusoe Island." From 1705 to 1709,the island was the solitary home of Scottish pirate named Alexander Selkirk, whose real life adventure inspired Daniel Dafoe’s 1719 literary masterpiece. |

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is by far one of the most haunted buildings in the city, its rooms said to be inhabited by the spirits of Montgomery Clift, Marilyn Monroe, Carole Lombard and many more. During their recent tour of the Hollywood area, OCE members CIpher and Ash went looking for these spooks among the Roosevelt's dimly-lit halls and ballrooms. Was James Dean Killed by a Cursed Car? |
"It is now ten o'clock, Friday the 23rd of September 1955. If you get in that car you will be found dead in it by this time next week." Those prophetic words were uttered by actor Alec Guinness during his first and only meeting with the legendary James Dean. The chance encounter took place at a Los Angeles area restaurant. Dean, in his enthusiasm to meet the English legend, eagerly showed off the silver sportscar he had just purchased. Guinness responded with a shudder and his ominous warning. Sadly, Dean did not listen and exactly a week later he was dead, crushed to death inside that same car in a bizarre roadway accident. This was just the first strange incident that surrounded Dean's sleek Porsche Spyder, prompting many to ask if the car was cursed from the very beginning? |

In this edition of the Outcast Earth Enewsletter, longtime member Trespass confirms Cipher's speculation that his dead sister, Meryl, has been haunting him since 2003. The theory formed when a female apparition appeared in a photograph behind Trespass during the team's visit to the redwood forest in California. What's more, Trespass confesses that many of the psychic impressions he's had over the years have been the result of Meryl's intervention. It is an amazing confession three years in the making! |

Enewsletter 3-2008:
Who Killed the Steelhead? |
Stories of ghost ships patrolling the area in and around the San Francisco Bay are not unusual, but in 1960 a real ghost vessel disappeared without a trace. The name of the ship was the Steelhead, a small fishing vessel that sent an bizarre "distress signal" and then vanished. Later, the United States Coast Guard found only traces of the boat – including a bullet-ridden door. Another fisherman was implicated in the disappearance of the Steelhead and the ship's skipper, but after the Coast Guard took him into custody he too disappeared from an empty ship in the middle of the sea. |

But the expedition turned out to be a lot more than the search for an elusive ghost. The team uncovered some dark, small town secrets including mysterious deaths, murderous intentions and broken dreams. And their final experience at remote and forgotten Sossaman Acres would put one person inthe hospital and another in the grave! |

OCTOBER 31 THROUGH DECEMBER 8, 2006:
SAIPAN SPIRITS |
Having concluded their brief tour of Iwo Jima, the OCE team has now moved onto the island of Saipan, The last island to be visited by the team as part of their South Pacific tour, Saipan may have the strangest and bloodiest history of any location in the region. A Japanese stronghold during World War II, the island introduced Allied forces to jungle warfare where the enemy would disappear down holes, into caves or up trees. As the Japanese began to lose their grip on the island, hundreds (possibly thousands) of them chose to kill themselves rather than surrender. These deaths, many of which were captured by contemporary photographers, became haunting images of a fanatical enemy that considered it an honor to die for the Emperor. In their quest to locate haunting phenomenon, the OCE team will be visiting many of the battle sites, shrines and forgotten stongholds on Saipan. |
OCTOBER 1 THROUGH 25, 2006:
BLACK SANDS OF IWO JIMA |
The island of Iwo Jima marked one of the last stops for the Outcast Earth team during their paranormal survey of the South Pacific. Also known as Sulfur Island due to its extensive volcanic activity, Iwo Jima was the site of some of the fiercest fighting during the last months of World War II. The entrenched Japanese garrison here fought to the death to defend the stronghold from the Americans, resulting in tens of thousands of casualties. The OCE team surveyed the old battlefields for haunting activity... and came upon a very unusual surprise. |
APRIL 7 TO MAY 20, 2006:
TRESPASS'S RETURN TO THE BAYOU |
OCE team members Trespass and Rune make a very personal trip to the small town of Dry Tree, located deep in the bayous of Louisiana. The area was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina and most families fled the area entirely. The journal entries detail Trespass and Rune's struggle to enter the decimated area and answer the mystery of what happened to the former's family. |
OCTOBER 14, 2005 THROUGH JANUARY 31, 2006:
CHUUK LAGOON – FRACTURED PARADISE |
One of their longest expeditions to date, the Outcast Earth team did an extensive survey of Chuuk Lagoon, a picturesque series of islands in the South Pacific, from October 2005 through January 2006. Of particular interest was their haunting investigations of a sunken Japanese ship and a crashed fighter plane located on a remote atoll. |
SEPTEMBER 18 THROUGH OCTOBER 11, 2005:
AMELIA’S SHADOW – THE SEARCH FOR EARHART AND NOONAN ON NIKUMARORO ISLAND |
The Outcast Earth team visit Nikumaroro Island, a remotely located atoll in the Phoenix Island chain. Recent archeological evidence may indicate that the island was the crash site of famous aviator Amelia Earhart who disappeared without a trace in 1937. |

WAKE ISLAND – LOST BUT NOT FORGOTTEN |
The Outcast Earth team visited remotely-located Wake Island during the summer of 2005. The US military facility on the island, often known as the "Alamo of the Pacific," was renowned for holding out against a massive Japanese onslaught during December 1941. The team investigated several mysteries surrounding this amazing World War II battle. |

ATOMIC ATOLLS – THE MARSHALL ISLANDS CHAIN |
The United States military had
chosen the Marshall Islands
as the preferred testing
ground for its nuclear
arsenal shortly after World
War II ended. But on March 1,
1954, the test of a new
hydrogen bomb type
would turn into the greatest
nuclear tragedy since the
intentional bombing
of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The fallout from that test would force the evacuation of tens of thousands of people and turn some of the picturesque islands of the area into radioactive wastelands. |
MAY 21 TO JUNE 13, 2005:
TAHITI: ISLE OF VOLCANOES AND LAGOONS |
The one-month trip to Tahiti was first the investigative outing for the entire OCE team, although severe disorganization and in-fighting prevented any real progress. The one mystery they did investigate landed on their doorstep in the form of a local teenager named Tahiki, who claimed his grandmother was a cannibalistic witch! |
