Sand dunesEnewsletter 4-2008: Secrets Under the Sands. This Outcast Earth enewsletter examines some of the mysteries concealed beneath the swirling sands of the world's great deserts. Examples include a newly rediscovered pyramid that was buried beneath twenty-five feet of sand; a World War II bomber preserved for decades in the dry heat of the Sahara; and a fabeled Egyptian city said to be lost beneath the dunes of central California.
Enewsletter 3-2008: Who Killed the Steelhead? Stories of ghost ships patrolling the area in and around the San Francisco Bay are not unusual, but in 1960 a real ghost vessel disappeared without a trace. The name of the ship was the Steelhead, a small fishing vessel that sent an bizarre "distress signal" and then vanished. Later, the United States Coast Guard found only traces of the boat – including a bullet-ridden door. Another fisherman was implicated in the disappearance of the Steelhead and the ship's skipper, but after the Coast Guard took him into custody he too disappeared from an empty ship in the middle of the sea.
Enewsletter 2-2008: Was the Alcatraz Great Escape Successful? On June 11, 1962, three convicts from the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary snuck out of the prison, pushed a homemade raft into the frigid waters of the San Francisco Bay and disappeared. For over forty years, experts have argued if the men could have been successful in this daring escape attempt. This OCE enewsletter examines the escape and the controversy of this decades-only mystery.
MerylEnewsletter 1-2008: Outcast Earth's Invisible Member. In this edition of the Outcast Earth Enewsletter, longtime member Trespass confirms Cipher's speculation that his dead sister, Meryl, has been haunting him since 2003. The theory formed when a female apparition appeared in a photograph behind Trespass during the team's visit to the redwood forest in California. What's more, Trespass confesses that many of the psychic impressions he's had over the years have been the result of Meryl's intervention. It is an amazing confession three years in the making!

As the OCE team undertakes their first investigation of an animal haunting at Sossaman Acres, California, the webmasters present this enewsletter on tales of animal ghosts from around the world and across the centuries.
James Dean in cursed carEnewsletter 5-2007: Was James Dean Killed by a Cursed Car? "It is now ten o'clock, Friday the 23rd of September 1955. If you get in that car you will be found dead in it by this time next week." Those prophetic words were uttered by actor Alec Guinness during his first and only meeting with the legendary James Dean. The chance encounter took place at a Los Angeles area restaurant. Dean, in his enthusiasm to meet the English legend, eagerly showed off the silver sportscar he had just purchased. Guinness responded with a shudder and his ominous warning. Sadly, Dean did not listen and exactly a week later he was dead, crushed to death inside that same car in a bizarre roadway accident. This was just the first strange incident that surrounded Dean's sleek Porsche Spyder, prompting many to ask if the car was cursed from the very beginning?
Enewsletter 4-2007: Cipher and Ash's Tour of the Haunted Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel Virtually every landmark in Hollywood has some legend, myth or haunting associated with it. Movie stars, who are so large in life, seem fated for even greater renown after they have passed on. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is by far one of the most haunted buildings in the city, its rooms said to be inhabited by the spirits of Montgomery Clift, Marilyn Monroe, Carole Lombard and many more. During their recent tour of the Hollywood area, OCE members CIpher and Ash went looking for these spooks among the Roosevelt's dimly-lit halls and ballrooms. This enewsletter details the reported hauntings and Cipher and Ash's opinions on each.
Enewsletter 3-2007: Was the Black Dahlia Killer a Student of Jack the Ripper? Although separated by sixty years, the Jack the Ripper murders in Victorian England and the Black Dahlia murder in Los Angeles had some striking similarities... causing some historians to wonder if the Dahlia murderer studied and even emulated his brutal predecessor. Aside from uncanny similarities in the crimes themselves – from how the victims were chosen to the types of mutilations inflicted –both murderers also arrogantly taunted the police and press during their reigns of terror. In this enewsletter, Outcast Earth compares the two murderers and offers some insights about where the Dahlia killer found his horrific inspiration.
Enewsletter 2-2007: The Wonderfully Bizarre World of Disney As a supplement to their recent visit to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, the Outcast Earth team offers this look at some of the urban legends connected to the entertainment giant. Included are rumors that an image of Walt Disney still lurks in the park's Haunted Mansion and racy tales of subliminal images hidden in such classic Disney films as THE LITTLE MERMAID and ALADDIN.
Zodiac killer sketchEnewsletter 1-2007: Murder Code – Stalking the Zodiac Killer. From 1968 to 1970, San Francisco, California, was terrorized by an enigmatic serial killer who called himself “The Zodiac.” His preferred victims appeared to be young couples, often stalked and killed at various lover's lanes around the area. Although his true identity remains a mystery, the Zodiac killer taunted police, the press and the public with strange symbols, ciphers and other occult-like references that he claimed would lead them to his doorstep. This enewsletter examines the Zodiac murders and the bizarre clues that the killer left behind and which still stump investigators to this day.
Enewsletter 7-2006: South Pacific Island Was Home To The Real Robinson Crusoe.The Chilean government renamed this remote and precipitious island four-hundred miles from the mainland “Robinson Crusoe Island." The renaming wasn't just an attempt to lure in tourist anxious for an adventure getaway... it was to commemorate the island's pivotal role in one of the most famous novels in the world. From 1705 to 1709,the island was the solitary home of Scottish pirate named Alexander Selkirk, whose real life adventure inspired Daniel Dafoe’s 1719 literary masterpiece.

Enewsletter 6-2006: The Puzzle of Pale-Skinned Polynesians. Tales of pale-skinned and light-haired Polynesians have permeated the South Pacific for centuries. When Western sailors first encountered these individuals, they concluded that they were the offspring of stranded Europeans who interbred with local islanders... But was that the case? The Polynesians had much different explanations which included tales of lost tribes, vengeful gods and magical heroes. The puzzle of the pale-skinned Polynesians arose again with the mysterious appearance of Tahiki on Iwo Jima Island. Tahiki, an 'ehu' or pale-skinned Tahitian boy, first met the OCE team in the summer of 2005 and proved to be a bundle of mysteries all on his own!
Neanderthal foodsEnewsletter 5-2006: Mysteries of Mankind. Archaeologists play an interesting role... part scientist, part archivist and sometimes part policeman. Whether looking for a forgotten person, tribe, civilization or world, archaeologists often live and work on the verge of discovery. Outcast Earth is pleased to present some intriguing archaeological tales discoveries about our evolutionary past that attempt to answer the question about where we all came from, including the mystery of the Neanderthals.
Enewsletter 4-2006: Mysteries of the South Pacific, Part VII – Life Among the Headhunters. This Outcast Earth enewsletter revisits the strange, real-life adventure of John Renton, a young Scottish sailor who was rescued from certain death by a group of South Pacific headhunters and lived as one of them for eight years. Renton's story became a sensation in Victorian England, although Renton had to sanitize his own involvement for his puritanical audience... including excluding details about the sixty or so individuals he killed during that time. The enewsletter also examines the phenomenon of headhunting from all over the world.
Enewsletter 3-2006: The Honey Island Swamp Monster. In 1963, hunter Harlan Ford had a frightening encounter with a shaggy, ape-like "monster" in the Honey Island Swamp of Louisiana. He held onto his secret for eleven years... until he met the creature a second time in 1974. What really happened in that swamp? Could an unknown primate be living undetected in the bayous?

Enewsletter 1-2006: Mysteries of the South Pacific, Part VI – The "Other" South Pacific Disappearance. In late 1961, Michael Rockefeller, the son of millionaire Nelson Rockefeller, disappeared in the rough seas off the coast of a New Guinea island. Despite a massive ground and sea search, no sign of the young man was ever discovered. Years later, however, an Australian smuggler claimed to have found Rockefeller alive and living among a tribe of headhunters. Did Rockefeller survive the sea to live as a captive on Kanaboora Island?
Enewsletter 5-2005: Mysteries of the South Pacific, Part V – Rumors of Island Ghosts. Long after the second World War has ended, rumors persist that the ghosts of Japanese defenders still patrol the beaches and jungles of many South Pacific islands. A tale so bizarre and amazing you won't believe your eyes!
Enewsletter 2-2005: Mysteries of the South Pacific, Part II – Who Ate Jean Francois? This Outcast Earth enewsletter looks at the mysterious disappearance of Captain Jean Francois de Galaup La Perouse, the French explorer whose discoveries helped Europeans map and understand the cultures of the South Pacific. Perouse vanished in 1785 never to be seen again. French rescue parties came to believe that he and his crew may have fallen victim to native cannibals.
